The PCT has a system for managing policies, from development and consultation to ratification and review. Policies are ratified by the Board, or by groups or individuals to whom the Board has delegated that authority (the Scheme of Delegation describes how the Board discharges its responsibilities throughout the organisation and is available from the Publication Scheme Co-ordinator).
New policies are developed by an identified policy author, often by using reference groups. Draft policies are then consulted upon with relevant stakeholders before ratification.
The Policy Co-ordinator oversees the processes of policy development, ratification, distribution and review. Details of the policies that the PCT has in place can be found in 'Non-Clinical Policies' and 'Clinical Policies'
