NHS North Somerset is currently undertaking a full review of its Equality and Diversity policies and schemes in line with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. A revised Single Equality Scheme has now been published and can be accessed via the Equality Schemes Link below.
Both as providers of health services and employers of people, the PCT is committed to eliminating discrimination on the basis of gender, marital status, age, disability, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, sexuality or social class. We aim to provide accessible services, delivered in a way that respects the needs of each individual and does not exclude anyone.
To turn this commitment into reality, our Equalities Policy states that we will:
Value the diversity of our customers and employees
Develop and implement action plans to identify and eliminate discrimination, reduce health inequalities and promote equality of opportunity
Communicate our aims and progress clearly to our customers, employees and local communities
Ensure that employees receive the training, information and support that they need to contribute to this task
Work closely with our partners to achieve our equality aims and standards
