Your right to be treated with respect

Concerns about lack of respect for the dignity of older and vulnerable people in a care setting has driven the development of the Dignity in Care Campaign by the Department of Health and its application to mental health services in additional to older people services.

In North Somerset our intention is to ensure dignity in care is extended to all adults receiving health and social care services irrespective of the setting and service provider, thereby including all vulnerable and hard to reach groups.

A North Somerset Dignity in Care action plan has been developed, agreed by all partners across all care settings, and is now being implemented following the first meeting of the North Somerset Dignity in Care Steering Group meeting held on 22nd April 2008.

The action plan supports all caring organisations meet the ten point dignity challenge.
