Healthy Ageing in North Somerset

 

England is an ageing society and this is reflected in North Somerset. Our population is expected to increase by 8% over the next ten years, an increase of about 16,000 people. Most of these people will be over 65, and a substantial proportion over 75. These are the age groups in which people are often most in need of care, and are growing faster than the national rate.

Health Walks

Keeping Warm in North Somerset

Elderly people are particularly vulnerable to illnesses related to cold and damp. Most are living on fixed incomes and can benefit from advice on energy efficiency.  There are also a number of home insulation grants available.  Anyone looking for help can either contact ‘Warm and Well’ Somerset which has a free phone help line 0800 512 012 or can contact Kim Herivel at North Somerset Council. Kim is the Home Energy Efficiency Officer for North Somerset and can help local residents find out what help may be available to them to make their homes warmer.
