Meet the Team

Marcus Ede, MCIPD, MA (HRM) Associate Director of Human Resources. Marcus has overall responsibility for a team of ten HR staff in the provision of a comprehensive HR service to both Community Services and the Commissioning side of the organisation which includes: recruitment and selection, workforce planning, training and development, employee relations, HR policies and procedures, operational HR management and the management of change, JCC and HRC, Improving Working Lives and job evaluation. Marcus is responsible for the development and implementation of the HR/People strategy and for the provision of guidance and advice to both the Community Services and the PCT Board.

Elaine Edwards, MCIPD, HR Manager for Corporate Services. Elaine has worked with NHS North Somerset since 2002.  She looks after the Directorates within the Commissioning side, offering a full range of HR services including employee relations’ advice, sickness management support and training.  She also drafts and amends policies on behalf of the Trust and leads the Improving Working Lives/Health and Well Being group.  She is a specialist on job matching and evaluation and matching panels and has a keen interest in the legal aspects of employment related matters.  She administers and organises the annual NHS Staff survey, reporting on the findings and drafting the appropriate action plan.  Elaine works closely with her colleague Lisa Hornik, HR Manager for Provider Services providing cover for each other in times of absence and holidays.

Lisa Hornik – HR Manager (Community Services). Lisa is the dedicated HR Manager for Community Services, advising line managers on employment law, employee relations and interpretation of NHS policies and procedures. She also delivers training on HR related subjects.

Nick Bailey, Workforce Development Manager. Nick is responsible for delivering a strategic and operational Workforce service and promoting a culture of learning and development within the Trust. He oversees the development of new roles and commissions effective education and training to support these roles. He is responsible for training and development strategy for the PCT, ensuring that the staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge required for their jobs.

Eugenie Mellon, Recruitment Lead. The principal part of Eugenie’s role is to lead on the provision of a high quality, cost effective recruitment service by liaising and advising Managers on all recruitment and selection procedures and associated equality issues. She also supports the Workforce Manager in delivering a high quality, professional service to the PCT.

Theresa Bateman, HR Advisor/PA. Theresa's role involves employee relations issues, with particular emphasis on proactively supporting line managers in the management of staff sickness.

Melanie Naish, Workforce Administrator. Melanie supports the Workforce team and her main duties are to assist with the recruitment and selection process and training administration.  She also provides basic advice and guidance to staff on a wide range of recruitment and training issues.

Karen Grierson & Tracey Richards, Bank Allocation Officers. Karen and Tracey administer the bank desk on a job share basis. Karen works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning and Tracey works Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. Their main role is to administer and fill bank bookings across the PCT, in line with PCT policy. We aim to deliver high-levels of support for Bank staff and Managers looking to use the service.
