There is a national requirement for the Community Services provided by North Somerset Primary Care Trust (PCT) to separate from our Commissioning role. To achieve this separation, it is planned to establish a Social Enterprise to run these important services for patients. A Social Enterprise is a not-for-profit organisation set up to benefit the community.
This engagement is now closed. The PCT Board agreed to proceed with the
establishment of a Social Enterprise with effect from 1st October 2011,
subject to the organisation meeting the assurance requirements.

The PCT has engaged with interested parties about the proposal to establish a Social Enterprise for the existing Community Services. The engagement period ran from 25th November 2010 to 23rd February 2011. We also ran a formal staff consultation about these plans.
